Play Readers’ Series

Race on the American Stage - A New Series to Engage the Minds of Playgoers

In this new, ongoing series, participants will read plays centered on a particular theme and convene for guided discussions led by TCT’ Artistic Director, Nicole Stodard, Ph.D., and a panel of artists.
The first theme in the Readers’ Series will be Race on the American Stage.

This installment of the Series will include three plays:The America Play by Suzan-Lori ParksSlave Play by Jeremy O’HarrisFairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury
Participants in the Series will be provided links to purchase each play and a short list of questions for consideration while reading. Participants should plan to read each play in advance of each meeting in order to ensure themselves the fullest experience. Each session will be 2 hours long.

*Please note that the Readers’ Series is NOT a play reading series; accordingly, there will not be conventional readings of entire plays. Instead, this Series is intended to engage the minds of readers, encourage critical investigation of ideas and dramatic form, and provide an informed, empathetic, and safe context for conversation.

Format:
The Readers’ Series will meet over Zoom. Participants will be provided Zoom links directly from TCT’s Managing Director, Bree-Anna Obst, after purchasing tickets to the Series.

Dates:

Sunday, March 28 3-5pm EST
