Everyone has a story. It's time to set yours free!
Join Thinking Cap Theatre for a special Flash Life Writing Workshop in association with the inaugural Wilton Women's Week.
During this 3-hour workshop, participants will engage in a holistic, collaborative creative process with the support of a team of professional theatre artists.
Inspired by feminist life writing practices from the 1970s and also by the embodied writing methodologies of lesbian playwright Maria Irene Fornes, this workshop will empower LGBTQ+ women to tell their own unique stories of liberation, learning, living, and loving.
Over the course of the 3-hour session, participants will do the following:
* Learn the Fornes method;
* Practice communal warm-ups and writing exercises;
* Work in small groups to rehearse their new monologues, short plays, spoken word;
* Share their new creations with the writing community
* Break bread and toast to the writing community's accomplishments
The following is included in your registration fee:
* Food and Beverages
* Yoga Mat
* Notebook and pen
* Thinking Cap Theatre Mug
* Community Toast with Champagne/Sparkling Cider to commemorate your new creation
Please note that no prior writing experience is needed to participate in this workshop.
Please also note that the physical activities included in this workshop can be tailored to each individual's own comfort level.
Presented in partnership with Women with Pride at The Pride Center of Equality Park.
This program was made possible by a joint grant from The Our Fund Foundation and The Community Foundation of Broward.
