2024 Salon: An Ongoing Readers’ Series featuring Feminist & LGBTQ+ Texts

Featuring Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown

Description

Published in 1973, this debut novel by Rita Mae Brown is a landmark lesbian coming-of-age tale. Molly Bolt, its central character (and a Florida native) is a fierce, funny, flawed, and ultimately resilient young woman who has provided generations of queer readers with a sense of community and self-affirmation. Read the novel (again) before meeting the author on October 23, 2024 at Stonewall Women’s Fund’s presentation of “An Evening with Rita Mae Brown”.

Thinking Cap Theatre presents SALON, a new Readers’ Series featuring LGBTQ+ and Feminist Texts (nonfiction, novels, plays) curated by TCT’s Artistic Director. The aim of the series is to provide a sustained space to foster friendships and dialogue on themes of historical and ongoing importance to LGBTQ+ women and allies.
